- India ranks a lowly 120th rank in the list of 122 countries rated on quality of potable water.
- Although India has 4% of the world’s water, studies show average availability is decreasing gradually, it is estimated that by 2020, India will become a water-stressed nation.
- Nearly 80% of villages still don’t have any source of protected drinking water.
- The rural population of India comprises more than 70 cores people residing in about 10.42 lacks habitations spread over 15 diverse ecological regions, According to a survey, 80% of rural India diseases occur due to contamination of water and consumption of unhealthy water.
